RESOURCES

Let’s face it, we live in a tech-heavy world! These days it seems like EVERYONE uses a smartphone, and children are often made fun of if they don’t have one.  It’s a lot of pressure for a parent to stick to a no-phone value until they are comfortable giving their kids phones–especially smartphones. Plus, with many households having one or both parents working outside the home, a phone is a safe way to be in touch with your child. We, at Save The Kids, understand!

Our goal is to give you information to share with your kids, ideas for how to manage phone and app usage in your home, and the stats and psychology behind what researchers are finding. This is a whole new epidemic, and it’s as silent as they come.

SAFER PHONE OPTIONS:

We understand how difficult it can be these days to have a complete “No Phone” policy. Fortunately, there are a few options for safer phones for your kids to use! Gabb and Pinwheel are both fantastic choices for introducing tech to your kids. Click the links below to learn more about each and tap the yellow boxes to get a discount on devices from both providers!

AMAZON BOOK LIST FOR PARENTS:

Wouldn’t it be so nice if each kid came with their own “how-to” manual? Unfortunately, parenting is different for everyone and there isn’t really a one-size-fits-all solution to every problem you or your kids will face.

We have found a few books that help educate parents on the way kids develop and how technology comes into play with that development, how to talk to your kids about different topics, how to use less tech and be safer when you do have to use it, and more.

SUPPORT GROUP APP

We’ve partnered with Relay to help people overcome addiction. Relay is an app that puts participants in a support group of peers fighting to overcome similar struggles such as pornography, eating disorders, drug/alcohol abuse, and more. These support groups are there to help when triggers show up or weak moments happen, as well as to celebrate both big and small wins of recovery.
